Dedicated to protecting and preserving the natural resources and natural heritage of the Belgrade Lakes Region.

"The time has come for us to do for our grandchildren what Percival Baxter did for us by preserving those special places throughout Maine that so much define us as a people. If we don't we'll turn around again someday and wonder where Maine went."
   - Governor Angus King

Belgrade Lakes Association

The Belgrade Lakes Association is a volunteer membership group whose mission is to protect and improve the watershed of Great Pond and Long Pond through Preservation, Education, and Action. We monitor the water quality of these lakes and maintain vigorous outreach to educate our members, youth camps, and the public about watershed stewardship. We conduct boat inspections and shoreline surveys to protect the lakes against infestations of invasive aquatic plants. We also run an annual program to eliminate Swimmers' Itch. We have purchased conservation land, and work closely with the Belgrade Regional Conservation Alliance which we help support through an annual donation. We also support the Belgrade Conservation Corps in order to stem the pollution which degrades water quality.

The BLA was created in 1908. Our basic membership dues have remained $10 since then. We encourage membership from visitors as well as residents. All who wish to preserve the sparkling legacy of Great Pond and Long Pond are welcome to join the effort to keep them healthy and beautiful for future generations.

Belgrade Regional Conservation Alliance

Belgrade Regional Conservation Alliance (BRCA) is the only conservation group dedicated to preserving the natural heritage, lands, and water quality of the Belgrade Lakes region. BRCA has protected popular recreation spots like the Kennebec Highlands, The Mountain, and French Mountain; conducted water quality surveys of the entire Belgrade Lakes chain; and worked to improve the water quality of our lakes and to stop the spread of invasive species. It also oversees the youth BRCA Conservation Corps.
